It's been a busy start to the year and I finally have the remind codes are finally ready to go. Click on the links below to sign up for the remind for the classes you are in.
I have some updates on our upcoming performance dates for this fall.
November 1st - Divisional Choral Day - Our choral groups will be performing at the evening concert which will be held in Lorette. The location and time is to be confirmed.
November 8th - Coffee House - 7 pm in the library. As with any performance, it is important that students are at the coffee house to perform. I know things get busy and that students have after school activities. If your student absolutely cannot make arrangements to be there, please send me a note so that I know.
December 6th - Winter Concert - 7 pm in the Gym. ALL students MUST be in attendance for the winter concert. For all intents and purposes, it does work as part of our final Exam for the semester. If a student cannot be there, I require a note from parents no less than 1 week prior to the concert. In addition, there will be a make up assignment that needs to be completed no later than December 8th, 2017.
I am still waiting on dates for our Choralfest performances. Those will be in mid to late November.

I hope everyone had an amazing summer vacation. I can't believe how quickly it flew and that we are already back.
We already seem to have lots going on in the music room this year. I am implementing some changes to the Band and Choir courses, we have added a non-production Musical Theatre class and we are also adding an auditioned Vocal Jazz group that will be going to Brandon Jazz Festival this year. The band will also be attending Brandon Jazz Festival in March.
There has been a slight change for the performance attire for this year. In order to implement some cost reductions for the program, I will be having each student purchase their Music Shirt from the program for $20. This shirt will be the ones we use for every performance we have. I will send home order forms within the next couple of weeks.
For performance dates so far this year, this is what we have:
Early November - Divisional Choir Day (Choir only, evening performance) Date TBC
November 10 - Remembrance Day Service (TBC)
Late November - Choralfest (Choir only, Date TBC)
December 6 - Winter Concert at CLC - 7pm
We will also have a couple of coffee houses in there as well but those have yet to be confirmed.

It is that time of year where we are busy preparing for the holidays.
I want to say thank you to everyone who came out to support our Winter Concert on December the 8th. Despite the weather and the bad roads, we had a full house. Both the Band and the Choir performed very well.
If you were at the concert, there is a list of upcoming dates on the back of the program (if you still have it). The date for the Divisional Honour band has changed from Thursday, February 9th to Wednesday, February 8th at 6:30 pm. The concert will still be in the CLC gym.
The next payment of $200 is due for the Chicago Trip on January 11, 2017. Please make sure the payment is in to the office no later than this. Remember that cheques are payable to CLC.
Our musical "Grease" will be starting in January. If your student is performing in the musical, they received a commitment letter with a schedule attached to it today (Monday, December 19, 2016). The letter needs to be signed and returned to me by Monday January 16, 2017. If you have any questions, please email me.

In preparation for our upcoming Chicago trip for the Band and Choir, we will be having a parent information meeting.
The meeting is on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7 pm in the Music Room at CLC.
At this meeting, we will discuss the itinerary for the trip, payment schedules and fundraising opportunities.
Also, if your student is planning on coming on the trip, I am asking for a non-refundable deposit of $100 to be paid no later than October 24, 2016.
